Anastasio97! A Line 6 HX EFFECTS preset for Trey Anastasio’s 1997 guitar tone.
Based on Trey’s rig in the later part of 1997 using the Deluxe Reverb amp, this lovely clean tone is great for that cow funk sound and the pristine soaring leads using the Tubescreamers and Ross compressor.
The effects include the usual suspects: Digitech WHAMMY, CAE WAH, two Tubscreamers: TS-1 & TS-2, a ROSS style compressor, the CAE Black Cat UNIVIBE, the Ibanez DM2000 with a subtle setting which is great for lead and a newly designed funk siren setting with MOD & HOLD in the snapshots. This DM2000 configuration took quite a while to conceptualize and dial in, and I think it’s super cool. The MOD sweep is less apparent than Trey’s DM2000 but it’s a cool effect.
Also added is a REVERSE Delay, which I believe came in 1998 when Trey got the Boomerang, but I had room for another effect / switch, so I decided to add it. Completing the signal chain with an always on reverb and an additional FULL reverb, the LESLIE and finally the TREMOLO for that iconic chop sound.
I spent a lot of time dialing these amps and effects in, trying them out at several live shows with my bands, Touch of Trey (phish & dead), A Live One (phish) & HeartByrne (talking heads). Testing them at home with several different cabinets, monitors and headphones, and then really dialing them in when pushing them at very loud live venue levels. I believe they’re balanced very well and sound really good in the mix!
HX EFFECTS VERSION: Because I don’t own an HX Effects, I’ve found a work around to use the Helix Favorites Blocks which can be uploaded manually into the HX Effects. This file is a folder of all of the individual Blocks from the Anastasio 22 Helix preset.
