Line 6 HELIX Preset Anastasio24
Anastasio24! Line 6 HELIX preset for Trey Anastasio’s 2024 guitar tone! • Release Date: 5/1/2025
Designed around Trey’s rig in the later part of 2024 which he continues to rock halfway into 2025, these presets emulate having two Mesa Boogie Mark III amps, one for CLEAN and one for LEAD. Each amp has its own preset as I needed to use two different amps to accomplish these tones.
The CLEAN channel is sparkling clean with very little, if any, breakup, even when pushed hard. It’s great for that crisp, spongy, clean tone we loved in the mid to late 90s with his CAE / Groove Tubes and Deluxe Reverb rigs. Piper, Sparkle, YaMar, among many other songs are great examples of this beautiful, silky, clean tone.
The LEAD channel has a bit of hair on it but cleans up nicely with pick dynamic. Great sounding amp that can get crunchy and have more bite. Breaks up even more with a push from the Klon, which is a great combo. Great for songs like Ghost, Chalkdust Torture and Prince Caspian. I find myself using this preset a lot as I love having so much dynamic control with the amount of my pick and strum attack.
The effects in these presets contain the usual suspects with the addition of a Klon, which Trey has been using lately. I think he really enjoys the sound of the openness of the amp distortion, coming from his somewhat compressed Tube Screamer sound, and likes pushing it with the subtleness of the Klon.
The rest of the effects include the Whammy, Wah, Tube Screamer #1 (less), Tube Screamer #2 (more), Ross Compressor, Nux Vibe, Supa Puss #1, Supa Puss #2, Reverse Delay, Leslie Rotary and the iconic Tremolo Chop. Last in the signal chain is the Boomerang Looper which I have set to decay nicely, very reminiscent of how I believe Trey uses his Boomerang.
I spent a lot of time dialing these amps and effects in, trying them out at several live shows with my bands, Touch of Trey (phish & dead), A Live One (phish) & HeartByrne (talking heads). Testing them at home with several different cabinets, monitors and headphones, and then really dialing them in when pushing them at very loud live venue levels. I believe they’re balanced very well and sound really good in the mix!
SIGNAL CHAIN
Whammy II > Vox Wah > Klon > TS #1 > TS #2 > Ross Comp > Nux Vibe > Mesa Boogie Mark III > Supa Puss #1 > Supa Puss #2 > Reverse Delay > Reverb > Leslie > Tremolo > Boomerang Looper
